چکیده

We present a 74 MHz survey of a 165 deg2 region located near the north Galactic pole. This survey has an unprecedented combination of both resolution (2500 FWHM) and sensitivity ( as low as 24 mJy beam 1). We detect 949 sources at the 5 level in this region, enough to begin exploring the nature of the 74 MHz source population. We present differential source counts, spectral index measurements, and the size distribution as determined from counterparts in the high-resolution FIRST 1.4 GHz survey. We find a trend of steeper spectral indices for the brighter sources. Further, there is a clear correlation between spectral index and median source size, with the flat spectrum sources being much smaller on average. Ultra-steep spectrum objects ( 1:2; S / ) are identified, and we present high-resolution VLA follow-up observations of these sources which, identified at such a low frequency, are excellent candidates for high-redshift radio galaxies. A Deep 150 MHz GMRT Survey in Eridanus

We present results of a 150 MHz survey of a field centered on ǫ Eridani, undertaken with the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT). The survey covers an area with a diameter of ∼ 2, has a spatial resolution of ∼ 30 and a noise level of σ = 3.1 mJy at the pointing centre. These observations provide a deeper and higher resolution view of the 150 MHz radio sky than the 7C survey (although the 7C ...

The Low Frequency Radio Counterpart of the XMM Large Scale Structure Survey

The XMM Large Scale Structure Survey (XMM-LSS) is a major project to map the large scale structure of the universe out to cosmological distances. An 8×8 region will be surveyed by XMM with planned optical follow-up to produce a three-dimensional map of many hundreds of clusters out to a redshift of z = 1. To explore the relation of the large scale structure to the location and properties of ext...

A Deep Model for Super-resolution Enhancement from a Single Image

This study presents a method to reconstruct a high-resolution image using a deep convolution neural network. We propose a deep model, entitled Deep Block Super Resolution (DBSR), by fusing the output features of a deep convolutional network and a shallow convolutional network. In this way, our model benefits from high frequency and low frequency features extracted from deep and shallow networks...

First Results of the 74 MHz VLA-Pie Town Link. Hercules A at Low Frequencies

We present the results of the first successful observations of the Pie Town link with the Very Large Array (VLA) at 74 MHz on Hercules A. The improvement in resolution from 25 arcsec to 10 arcsec resolves the helicaland ring-like features seen at higher frequencies. We also present new high dynamic range images of this powerful radio galaxy at 325 MHz. Our low frequency observations confirm the...

The VLA Low-frequency Sky Survey

The Very Large Array (VLA) Low-frequency Sky Survey (VLSS) has imaged 95% of the 3π sr of sky north of δ = −30◦ at a frequency of 74 MHz (4 meter wavelength). The resolution is 80 (FWHM) throughout, and the typical RMS noise level is 〈σ〉 ≈ 0.1 Jy/beam. The typical point-source detection limit is 0.7 Jy/beam and so far nearly 70,000 sources have been catalogued. This survey used the 74 MHz syste...
